Running Y Ranch Golf Course Review

We were recently contacted by our golfing (and RV) friends, Deanna and Scott. They had just finished a round of golf at Running Y Ranch located at the Running Y Ranch and Spa in Klamath Falls, OR. They were very impressed with the track and told us they thought it would be a great one to review on our golf blog.

Since we haven’t played the course, we asked them if they would like to contribute their own review – and guess what?

They took us up on the offer!

The following is their review. Thanks guys – we appreciate you taking the time to add content to 18 Holes and Counting! You are now officially “Reporters at Large!”

18 Holes and Counting ball marker!

Running Y Ranch Golf Course is an Arnold Palmer resort course outside Klamath Falls, Oregon. It has tiered green fees starting at $110.00 for morning tee times and going down to $34.00 for twilight tee times after 3:00 p.m., which is what we took advantage of at the end of June when sunset is not until after 9:00 p.m.

The charge for a cart is $25.00 per person, which seems silly, but that would be the only downside.

We arrived shortly before our tee time because getting to the course through the resort was a little confusing but made sense once we arrived. The clubhouse is well-stocked with everything you may need or want. The practice green is just before the 1st tee and there is a clock to let you know what time it is to make sure you are not late for your start.

Scott giving it his all!

There were no starters or marshals on the course while we played, but there were only four groups that we saw on the course at this time of day.

Once you arrive on the first tee you are amazed with the beauty of the setting; the vistas and landscape contours continued throughout the course. The holes are very user-friendly with mounds on at least one side of the fairway to bail out on and the mounds will bounce the ball back on the fairway, or at least stop the ball from going too far astray. There are many tee boxes for different skill levels so everyone can compete.

Tony – one of the groundskeepers

The course was in great shape with well-groomed fairways and greens that ran very smoothly especially considering the time of day we played. The greens were a great speed. The course was expecting very hot weather in the days following and we talked to Tony, one of the groundskeepers, and he apologized that the course was wet, but they were over-watering to get ready for the upcoming weather, which did seem to take away some of the advantage of playing at 4200 feet elevation.

What a great opportunity for a moderate and beginner twosome to play a signature golf course with such beauty; challenging but not ridiculously difficult.”

Our Golf & RV Friends – Deanna & Scott!
