Blackfoot Golf Club Review
June 19, 2024
Kathy and I are now on our 30th golf course in a different state, as we continue to check states off our Golf Bucket List to golf in ALL 50 states! And up on the schedule was Blackfoot Golf Club. Blackfoot Golf Club is in Blackfoot, Idaho, about 60 miles from Arco, Idaho, where we were staying. Kathy and I searched the area and Blackfoot was the closest golf course to our RV park.
From the minute Kathy and I stepped into the clubhouse, we were impressed. We were greeted as we came in the door. Beau and Sy quickly got us checked in and ready to play. Beau asked if we had been here before and gave us a good course rundown. He did a great job of telling us a little history of the course and then made sure we teed off before a large group of regulars.
He then told me the total. I asked him if he charged me for both players. To my surprise, he said today’s round of 18 was the same fees for the price of 9 holes.
Kathy and I paid 50 bucks for two players and a cart. We loved it.
As we walked up to the tee, Beau announced us on the tee box. I always love it when a course announces the players on the tee box.
I played the blues, 6530 yards. Kathy played the greens, 4724 yards. Immediately the condition of the course started to show itself off. The tee boxes were in great shape. I did notice some new forward tees were being added, but even the temporary tee boxes for the ones being worked on were nice.
As we drove down the fairways we couldn’t help but noticed how green and lush they were. The mowers were running everywhere cutting the grass at the perfect height. They had several cuts that were well-defined. Making it more difficult the further you were from their perfect fairways.
Giant evergreens lined the fairways, forming guarded corridors guiding your ball in the direction needed, acting like an invitation. Both Kathy and I were striking the ball very well.
SIDE NOTE – We both can have a bad round at the same time or one of us will have a bad round, but rarely do we both have a great round at the same time.
Even though trees lined each hole, the course was open. I could play my ball from almost every lie. I didn’t see any traps that left me without an option. I like that about a course.
You may have to have a special shot to get out of a pickle, but if you pull it off, you are rewarded.
The greens on the front nine were a little different. They were a little elevated and small. The ones on the back nine were just small. Both were pristine. The ball rolled so smoothly. Getting the feel for the greens was so easy. They were all cut identically. It was impressive. Both Kathy and I had fewer putts than we normally do. Heck, I had 22 putts. OK, so maybe a few of them were gimmies – Kathy may be a generous playing partner.
Based on our scorecard rating, we give Blackfoot Golf Club a Birdie!
Blackfoot Golf Club is very challenging and provides a lot of variety within its 18 holes. The price is low and the value is high so the next time you’re in the area, you may want to find time to stop for a round.
