Harvest Hill Golf Course Review
November 7, 2021
Kathy and I are doing a great job at finding golf courses in every state that we visit. Our goal is to eventually golf at least one course in every state of the Union – Here are the courses we have already played!
In truth I would love it if we golfed several courses in every state!!
Since that may not happen, every course we play we do our best to find the good things about playing there. It may be the only course we get to play in that state.
While we were in New York visiting Niagara Falls, we made time to play Harvest Hill Golf Course. We were in New York to visit with family and friends. We really only had one day that we could squeeze in golf, and we ended up choosing Harvest Hill Golf Course.
It was a little further than we wanted to drive but we were excited to play.
When we got to the club house everyone was friendly and helpful. They wanted to get us out on the course. The starter Mike was great. He gave us some course tips, told us some local rules and let us know it had been raining a lot for the past few days so the course was very wet.
Everything was in great shape and the fairways, greens and traps were groomed and clean. But have you ever played somewhere that just didn’t do anything for you? There was nothing wrong with the course. Kathy and I talked about it – everything was there. It just felt average.
Nothing stood out. Nothing made it special.
The layout was straight and open. It’s as though every hole felt the same. I like it when courses change and challenge you throughout the round. It doesn’t have to be a chess game. But as you play you should have to think about what you are doing. I’m talking about the courses that lure you in to think you have figured them out.
Then….BAM – there is a change to the way the course feels and you have to change that way you are playing to get to the green. Harvest Hill Golf Course didn’t have any of that. It just felt there.
We had fun – we were playing golf after all! And we both scored well. It just wasn’t hard to do.
If you are looking to practice up on your game then you should golf at Harvest Hill Golf Course.
I think it is a solid course. You can play it a few different ways during your round. The course doesn’t change so you can see how playing your ball differently off the tee works.
There is a lot to be said for a course like this. It gives you a chance to improve your game. I like to play some courses just for practicing. I will play aggressive off the tee to see how the game feels. Then the next time I play the course I will play smarter and try placing the ball. Harvest Hill Golf Course is a good course to do just that – because there is’t much to penalize you no matter how you play.
All in all I would recommend playing Harvest Hill Golf Course if you are in the area. I just wouldn’t go out of my way in order to play it.
